Select the right lighting based on the size of the space—and counter—you‘re covering. Many islands are accommodated by two or three small pendants, but some require as many as four small lights (or alternatively fewer large lights). In this instance, two large Glendale Chandeliers perfectly cover a long marble island.
For so many of us, lighting is an afterthought in our interiors. This happens when you think of it as a utilitarian detail of the room, rather than something that adds aesthetic value. When it’s done right, lighting is the unsung element that brings your design to the next level.
And, like surface lights, pendant lights will need a periodic cleaning to remove the visible dust that they collect. Recessed, surface and pendant lights are all available in models that accept a wide range of light bulbs. If you have a particular type of lamp (light bulb) in mind for your general kitchen lighting, such as an MR-16 Halogen bulb, then you will need to shop for fixtures that will take that lamp.
Ambient lighting is some the most prevalent type of lighting. Its low intensity creates a soft glow that makes it safe to work in most areas of the kitchen. Many people relate ambient lighting along with setting the ambiance in a room not just in kitchens, but in places like restaurants and bars as well. The right amount of ambient light can make a room welcoming and homely.
