While you may not think about it, your kitchen is a great place to add decorative elements that bring a sense of you and your lifestyle into your kitchen. For many homeowners, plant shelves on top of cabinets allow room for plants, artwork, and other decorative items. Built-in display shelves below your kitchen island can showcase your prized kitchenware, your favorite cookbooks, or display an heirloom set of china passed down through generations. Add a vase of flowers, and a fresh bowl of lemons for a shot of color.
There is no shortage of kitchen appliance options. But none of them are as critical as the fridge. It might not seem glamorous, but the refrigerator is a superstar in any cooking space. If you’re just moving into your first apartment, a smaller, standard fridge is a great place to start.
One idea is to take a highly distinctive wood texture and use it in unexpected places with high contrast. The photo above shows how the warm, textured wood from the island was also used over the cooktop area. This wood contrasts with the sleek gray cabinetry. Using a certain kind of wood for the island and extending it to other areas of the room creates design cohesion in the space.
Organizing all the components in your small‐kitchen in contiguous colors will make it appear bigger. Adjacent colors; that is colors that have quite slight difference when put together present a seamless look, demarcating lines vanish. A light and bright kitchen but not totally white for those that like a little deviation in the color tone.
There are so many ways but none more effective than painting the walls and ceilings white. White reproduce light, expand sense of space and makes the walls draw out. You can then make your choice of white colored countertops, cabinetry and other wall mounted furniture matched with tile flooring's that are predominantly white or light colored. The appearance will be one seamless space; bright, tidy and also uncluttered. It's also possible to use varying tones of white or you can recessed your cabinet panels and use moldings to add some delicate shadows and drama if you definitely love the purity of an all-white theme.
